I spent today getting acclimated to seeing and sorting through thousands of diamonds. It is a bit over stimulating and exciting at first.
Visited a dealer that only brokers diamond rough. I saw diamond crystals as they come out of the ground before cut. These were the size of marbles...around 20 carats each. You can already see color (fancy yellow or colorless) and if there are inclusions.
Also saw diamonds cut in non traditional shapes. Butterfly, star, flower, letters of the alphabet, horsehead...even a mouse.
There is no Halloween celebration like at home, but tomorrow is a National holiday. The only people working will be the diamond hunters. Everything else closed for All Saints Day.
